The Story Thus Far
A sort of history, consolidating my sporadic efforts to document my resistance.

TLDR: I’m a combat veteran and former federal employee. I’ve been shaken by the coup attempt happening under our noses. Now I shine a light on it, calling on neighbors across the country to mobilize.
Friends and neighbors,
Let me start at the very beginning.
Before I ever sat down to write these words on Substack.
Before I was a federal employee.
I was a combat veteran, husband, and father. A man trying to do right by his country.
Over the years, my experiences in and around government have revealed how easily promises can be broken, how quickly certain voices get silenced, and how fiercely determined we must be to protect the Constitution from those who’d dismantle it for personal power.
I’ve always spoke up, in my own name, and urged my colleagues to do the same. I’ve always suffered in every aspect of life for my frequent standing against victimizing and exploitation. I’ve documented some of my story on this Substack account, and will likely detail more.
Quiet Part Loud began as an act of defiance. It became an invitation. I wanted a space for people who suspect something’s gone very wrong at the highest levels of power. I wanted to pull back the curtain and talk about it loud, in plain English, without the legacy, corporate media filters or the endless spin. It’s my way of making sure the people eroding our democracy can’t do so without challenges and consequences.
When telework was yanked away from federal employees in blatant disregard of union consultation rights, I created a ready-to-go grievance letter that anyone could modify.
A small step? Maybe.
However, small steps add up when enough people take them. I’ve seen how Project 2025, if left unopposed, could continue to purge dedicated public servants and reshape government into a weapon for authoritarian rule. I will do my part to fight it.
That’s how this became a family resistance publication, too.
You see, I’m not just fighting for me. I have a diabetic child who relies on critical supplies, so my wife and I began stockpiling insulin for potential disruptions. We had to plan for worst-case scenarios: repairing our aging cars, canceling unnecessary subscriptions, selling what we don’t need, and even pulling a chunk from retirement savings as a safety net. None of that was fun or easy. But if I’m telling people to prepare, resist, and organize, I should lead by example.
Along the way, I’ve encouraged readers, whether they’re government workers or everyday citizens, to band together. Call out misinformation. Contact your representatives. Demand that they stand firmly against the encroaching Project 2025 blueprint.
Resistance isn’t just a catchy word. I want my children to keep the basic freedoms I widely enjoyed for most of my life. That’s worth fighting for.
Documenting all of this is my way of showing the arc of one average person who finally said “enough.” If you scroll back in my Substack archive, you’ll see how we transformed personal anxiety into collective action. You’ll find templates, stories, and real-life examples of what day-to-day resistance can look like. You’ll also see my open letter to the people behind Trump’s inner circle, reminding them that accountability isn’t off the table just because the powerful think they’re invincible.
The next leap for me was traveling to Washington, D.C. on March 14, 2025 to protest and network. I traveled on my own, meeting others along the way who share my commitment to democracy and accountability. It was there that I began to see myself less as an “ex–federal employee who’s fed up” and more as a full-blown resistance journalist. The stories I gather, the knowledge I pass along… these aren’t just hobby pieces. They’re an ongoing chronicle of America’s inflection point.
At one point, I proposed launching a brand-new political party or a broader grassroots movement. I envisioned something that could openly defy what the wider nation has pretended does not exist: entrenched corruption and big-money influence. Maybe that idea sounds bold or unrealistic; but isn’t it more unrealistic to assume the two-party system, as it stands, will magically fix itself?
Through it all, I’ve tried to be transparent. I have no illusions of invincibility. This isn’t an attempt to be an action hero or a social media influencer. I’m just a father and husband who’s had a front-row seat to how deeply our institutions can be co-opted. I will reclaim my power, as an authoritarian wave threatens our freedoms and our future. Every letter, every article, every personal anecdote I’ve shared here is meant to prove one thing: if one person can stand up and spark a bit of courage, imagine what happens when thousands or millions do the same. I continue to encourage you to reach out to your representatives and keep an eye on every underhanded policy move.
I’ll keep sharing these stories of personal struggles, family logistics, and bigger national fights because that’s what Quiet Part Loud is all about. It’s merging the personal and the political, refusing to pretend that separate compartments exist. We can’t act like our civic life has nothing to do with our daily survival. They’re one and the same.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. You make this publication (and the broader People’s Priority Movement) exactly what it needs to be: unstoppable, loud, unafraid, and fueled by ordinary folks who’ve decided that enough is enough. Subscribe if you wish, share if you’re moved to do so, but most importantly—stay alert, stay prepared, and stay loud.
We stand on the shoulders of patriots who fought every imaginable injustice before us. Now it’s our turn to pick up that fight in ways both big and small, from speaking out in your community to challenging powerful officials who think they can run roughshod over our rights.
Together, we shine a light on abuses of power, we connect with each other on a human level, and we remind those in high places: the people have always been the true guardians of democracy.
In solidarity,
—Juan April (RAGECOGNITO)

Just to add to that, I've spoken with others like Qasim Rashid and Marie Newman about a new party and they seem in general agreement, but we all see the main problem is the defeatist mentality that has driven the conversation. Of course, that was created by and for the corporatists, to convince us a third party wasn't plausible, but when enough people buy into the propaganda...
The truth is that 90 million eligible non-voters, some 60 million Democrats, and up to 30 million Republicans are thoroughly sick of our broken two-party system that doesn't represent us. If we created a party that focused almost exclusively on election reform and the elimination of exploitation by the rich, I think WE would instantly become the dominant party. If you're doing the math, we need less than half that number to beat both the Democratic and Republican parties.
We have the numbers, it's just about organizing, educating, and breaking through the comfortably numb complacency. Everyone knows we need it, but so far no one has been brave enough to try. The third parties we've had are all lame efforts or outright vote stealing corruption.
That's why I think ranked choice is vital as part of anti-corruption legislation. With that, we have the choice to take a chance without being a spoiler. Of course, the fascist know that, so they'll fight tooth and nail to stop it...
I agree about the new political party, but whether we want to reform the Democrats or begin one of the people, the first step is anti-corruption laws via the states. We are never going to outspend big money. The politicians don't care what we say while big money controls who gets elected.
I wrote about the proposed legislation from Represent Us here. There's also a link to my breakdown of the ICNC resistance guides.
These are from groups that have had success around the world with non-violent resistance. In fact, the global authoritarian pushback we've seen is a direct response to that. They're afraid of us.
